Shroomish later appeared in the Side Path stage, part of a free content update that was implemented into the game after New Pokémon Snap's initial release. However, Shroomish does not appear in the final game. Around 33 seconds into the reveal trailer for the game, a Shroomish can be spotted on one of the courses. According to the game's developer Haruki Suzaki, Bandai Namco was chosen to develop New Pokémon Snap because of their work on Pokkén Tournament and aspects of the game such as the environments. The player has been hired by the region's professor, Professor Mirror, to photograph the many different Pokémon found around the region. After all, why send a lot of text when you can express it with a single photograph? A picture is worth a thousand words.The setting takes place in the Lental region.
